Job Summary
Monitor pipeline systems, perform inspections, launch and receive internal tools, and conduct minor maintenance while responding to abnormal operating conditions. Guide junior team members, troubleshoot operational issues, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards under 49 CFR 195.501(b). Participate in the NexGen Training Program to build technical skills and gain hands-on experience with multiple operating consoles. Work 8- and 12-hour rotating shifts including holidays and weekends, subject to call-out and overtime. Live within 60 minutes of the designated work location with a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) from an accredited education institution
- Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
- Willingness to work 8- and 12-hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends as required
- Subject to call-out and occasional overtime
- Ability to complete Colonial's NexOp Program and operator qualifications
- Ability to be qualified on two or more operating consoles
- Demonstrated proficiency in Skill Set I, II, and III of the NexOp Program
- Successful completion of Skill Set IV

- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs unassisted

- Ability to traverse uneven terrain to reach secluded right-of-way
- Ability to climb stairs, vertical ladders up to 10 ft, and tank steps as high as 60 ft without assistance
- Ability to verbally communicate by two-way radio, especially during emergency response
- Normal visual acuity to perform duties of position
- Corrected vision of 20/40 or better if vision is corrected
- Ability to distinguish colors, especially red, green, white, yellow, cyan, and black
- Ability to detect the presence of petroleum products by smell
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions near refined petroleum products and heavy equipment
- Testing for the presence of prohibited drugs and alcohol as defined under 49 CFR Part 199 (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable cause/suspicion, and fit for duty)
- Live within 60 minutes from designated work location
- Ability to notify management of any changes to home address while in this role
Desired Qualifications
- Associate and/or Technical degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university
- 1–4+ years of experience in pipeline operations
- Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training
- Forklift training/licensing
- Fire training
- Experience with HMI systems and batch scheduling
