Job Summary
Field Operations Technician at Sunrun supports both pre-install survey work and post-install inspections for residential solar projects. Responsibilities include visiting customer homes to collect measurements, photos, and structural/electrical data; assessing roof conditions and electrical service panels; climbing ladders and inspecting attics; submitting survey data via mobile tools; performing post-install inspections to confirm readiness for AHJ/utility approval; coordinating with install teams and project managers to resolve inspection issues; ensuring documentation verifies readiness for inspection; scheduling and communicating across teams; and maintaining safety and tools. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, PV design/installation experience is helpful, attention to safety and detail, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, working on roofs, basic electrical knowledge, and a valid driver’s license. OSHA training is preferred, and occasional weekend/extended shifts may be required. Compensation is listed as an hourly range and may be location-based within the United States.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- PV design, PV installation or PV electrical experience (reading blueprints/plans, using tools, testing wiring, NEC knowledge) preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working on roofs, ladders, and in confined spaces
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and measuring devices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass driving background check
