Job Summary
Field Operations Engineer to stand up, execute, and continuously improve Extra Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XLAUV) field operations. Operate and monitor AUVs in real-time, coordinate launch and recovery evolutions, and support end-to-end deployment planning including mission route optimization and equipment readiness. Provide forward technical support across software and hardware systems, lead field maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades. Drive SOP development and refinement, incorporate customer feedback into engineering, and contribute to evolving XLAUV capability. Partner with customers to support deployments and provide on-the-job training for user communities. Must be able to travel up to 50% for field deployments, work irregular hours, and operate in maritime environments. NV2 security clearance required. Degree or equivalent experience in engineering or related fields preferred. The role is based in Sydney, Australia, with field operations potentially occurring dockside, offshore, or in remote environments. Includes opportunities for equity and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, robotics, marine systems, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, or a related field
- Experience supporting autonomous systems, marine platforms, robotics, or complex fielded systems in operational environments
- Demonstrated ability to perform diagnostics, repairs, system upgrades, and configuration management in field conditions
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time for field deployments, work irregular hours when required, and operate in maritime environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NV2 security clearance
