Job Summary
Diagnose, rebuild, and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, construction equipment, and automotive vehicles, including digger derricks, man lifts, and bulldozers. Perform inspections and preventive maintenance, requisition parts, and set up new equipment. Safely drive various vehicles, obtain necessary permits, and conduct emergency road service while adhering to established safety procedures. Prepare and maintain records and reports. Requires a Class A CDL, DOT medical card, and own tools. Travel required. Based in Kansas City, Wichita, or Central Kansas.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience and/or training in maintenance and repair of trucks and/or heavy equipment
- education in diesel technology or related field
- a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties
- Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance
- Must have a Class A CDL
- Must have a DOT medical card (or be able to obtain within 6 months)
- Must have a safe driving record
- Must have a valid driver's license according to legal requirements
- Must be subject to the Company's DOT Substance Abuse Testing Program
- Must have own tools
- Must have experience with power tools and hand tools
- Must be able to effectively drive various vehicles and/or transport equipment
- Must be able to perform inspections on vehicles before and after trips
- Must be able to obtain, as necessary, all moving permits, licenses, titles, safety checks, etc. as required by corporate policy, state or federal regulations or client requirements
- Must be able to perform minor emergency road service as necessary
- Must conduct all work with established safety procedure
- Must be available for travel
- Must be based out of the Kansas City, Wichita or Central Kansas area
Desired Qualifications
- Welding experience
- Experience with electrical systems
- Hydraulic experience
- Familiar with mechanical design and fabrication
- Experience with electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems
- Skills include using power and hand tools
- Experience using diagnostic equipment
- Experience in operating vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
