Job Summary
Field Mechanic at Knife River is a full-time role focusing on maintenance and repairs of construction and crusher equipment in both shop and field settings. Responsibilities include inspecting fleet per policy and regulations, diagnosing problems using manuals/schematics, ensuring DOT/OSHA/EPA compliance, coordinating with operators and staff, operating and maintaining cranes, performing repairs, welding/fabrication, organizing shop inventory, and completing required paperwork. The role requires Class A or B licenses, at least 5 years of experience with Class B trucks/construction equipment, welding skills, and the ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends while maintaining safety and PPE protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Class A or B license
- Minium 5 years' experience with Class B trucks/construction equipment
- Must have superior cutting and welding skills for field repairs and fabricating projects
- Must be self-motivated and a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Basic skills for trouble shooting and diagnostics
- Must know how to operate company equipment to diagnose problems to communicate to management
- Must be able to read and understand operating/maintenance manuals and/or technical schematics
- Operate and maintain overhead and truck counted cranes
