Job Summary
Field Mechanic -- perform in-field diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment at customer sites using a mobile service vehicle; maintain parts inventory on the service vehicle, document diagnostics and repairs, mentor technicians and apprentices, and communicate solutions to customers with safety and professionalism; must have strong mechanical/electrical/hydraulic skills, experience with diagnostic tools, and a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred); high school diploma or GED required with associates preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience performing service repairs
- Experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment
- Experience operating vehicles and diagnostic tools
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience performing service repairs
- Demonstrated experience meeting performance metrics
- Experience with John Deere equipment and technology
- Experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems in off-road/heavy equipment
- Experience using diagnostic tools and service software (e.g., Service ADVISORTM)
- Mentoring Service Technicians and Apprentices
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; Associates degree preferred
- Toolset adequate to perform job responsibilities
- Safety-conscious with ability to follow manuals and procedures
