Field Materials Testing Technician

Job Summary
Conduct field inspection, sampling, and testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete materials for roadway, bridge, and heavy civil infrastructure projects in Georgia. Perform density testing with nuclear gauge equipment, conduct asphalt and concrete coring, and execute slump, air content, and temperature tests while fabricating and curing concrete cylinders. Obtain and transport samples to the laboratory, record daily reports, and coordinate with inspectors, contractors, and project managers to verify testing frequencies and maintain GDOT certification compliance. Maintain field equipment and support Control Point Inspections. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and overtime as required by construction operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical field activities
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments

Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1–3 years of construction materials testing experience preferred
- GDOT Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) preferred
- GDOT Field Concrete Technician (FCON) preferred
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I preferred
- Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification preferred
- GDOT QCT Level I or II preferred
