Job Summary
Field Lead Technician (L1-L3) leads installation teams performing fiber optic and copper cabling in mission-critical data centers. Oversees field operations to ensure installations meet technical, quality, and safety standards, and mentors entry-level to senior technicians. Responsibilities include executing installation work per contractual requirements, developing work plans, coordinating with engineers and vendors, leading toolbox talks, traveling to regional data center sites, and ensuring accurate documentation, QA/QC, and safety compliance. Requires ability to troubleshoot complex fiber/copper issues, read cable maps and blueprints, and operate in live data center environments. Travel, overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required. Education: high school diploma or GED; experienced in construction, low-voltage cabling, telecom, or data centers; L1–L3 experience levels vary by role.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience leading installation teams in fiber optic and network infrastructure
- Ability to travel as needed
- Ability to read cable maps, schematics, blueprints
- Knowledge of QA/QC in data center deployments
- Mentorship/leadership experience for L1-L3 technicians
