Job Summary
Respond to death scenes in a timely manner, often on an on-call basis, performing detailed inspections, photographing bodies and surrounding areas, and making presumptive identifications. Obtain demographics and medical history through interviews with neighbors, family, or physicians, then make preliminary determinations of cause and manner of death while assessing physical postmortem changes and securing private property. Collect, inventory, and package evidence maintaining strict chain of custody, coordinate with law enforcement and other agencies, and provide concise written reports including photos and sketches. This part-time, temporary, non-exempt role requires a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience, with candidates residing within one hour of Roseau or Lake of the Woods counties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least two years of job-related experience
- Valid driver's license
- Vehicle available for business use
- Currently reside within one hour of Roseau County or Lake of the Woods County, MN
- Willingness to relocate within three weeks of hire
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal/driving background check
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Ability to sign an informed consent form allowing the County to obtain to conduct such screenings and/or verify their qualifications
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Physical or Social Sciences or Criminal Justice or related field
- Knowledge of pharmacological and medical terminology and disease processes
