Job Summary
Lead and perform pipefitting and welding on steam, condensate, water, and air systems in corrugating packaging plants while reading P&IDs, drawings, and technical specifications. Manage third-party contractors to ensure work meets Kadant Johnson and customer standards, and support equipment installs, modifications, and troubleshooting on corrugator systems. Provide accurate measurements, sketches, and documentation of system changes, then work closely with engineering, service, and project management teams to ensure project success. Maintain safety, quality, and performance standards while managing field operations and assisting with developing scope of work and proposals. Supervise staff through hiring, performance evaluation, and people development. Requires ten years in the corrugated packaging industry, millwright or pipefitter experience, and up to 75% travel including short notice trips.
Required Qualifications
- minimum of ten years working in the corrugated packaging industry at a box plant or for a contractor/supplier that supports the corrugated packaging industry
- millwright or pipefitter experience
- willing and able to travel up to 50-75% of the time including short notice trips, weekends, and occasional holidays based on customer needs
- in-depth mechanical knowledge of corrugator equipment
- ability to identify problems and opportunities
- ability to work independently
- communicate effectively
- plan and provide sound technical solutions
- Supervisory responsibilities including hiring, staff performance evaluation, and people development
