Job Summary
Field Engineer responsible for installation, commissioning and maintenance of customer access and core networks including Transmission, IP and Voice networks. Duties include equipment installation/commissioning, QA of network build, fault diagnosis and remediation within SLA, ensuring minimal outages, maintenance programs, restoration after outages, network augmentation with minimal disruption, asset protection, stakeholder coordination, and 24/7 on-call support. Requires extensive telecommunications fibre network experience, knowledge of IP, SDH, DWDM, xPON, DC power, and external plant, and the ability to lead staff and contractors. Based in Townsville, QLD, and applicant must be an Australian citizen with NV1 clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Telecommunications (Cert III/Cert IV/ Assoc Dip, Diploma)
- Extensive experience in construction, operation and maintenance of optical fibre telecommunications networks
- Working knowledge of IP, SDH, DWDM and xPON transmission equipment
- Sound understanding of operating devices used in telecommunications optical fibre transmission networks
- Experience managing sub-contractors and liaising with stakeholders
- Ability to work 24/7 support roster
- Australian Citizen and NV1 Clearance
