Job Summary
Conduct on-site design post-construction administration services for the Dry Dock 3 modernization project at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Assist the designer of record in resolving unforeseen conditions, attend coordination and safety meetings, and monitor construction progress through Quality Assurance visits. Review submittals and request for information, then provide digital field consultation reports for each site visit. Notify NAVFAC and the designer of record of any quality issues requiring resolution while maintaining communication with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related
- Concentration in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of structural/civil engineering design or construction experience
- Professional Engineer license
- Availability to commence employment in December 2026
- Experience with reviewing and understanding detailed construction plans
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check to secure Department of Defense DBIDS card and an unescorted NAVSEA Badge or other security clearances as required by the client
- Proof of U.S. citizenship
- Clear results of a thorough background check that may include but is not limited to credit and criminal history
- Successful completion and passing of a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
- Legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire
- Willingness to work from Moffatt & Nichol's Norfolk, VA office on non-field days
Desired Qualifications
- Concentration in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to work independently and within a team
