Field Engineer

Job Summary

Lead field validation of telecom design, proactively identifying conflicts and collaborating with project managers and customers for resolution through the RFI process. Manage project reviews focusing on constructability, value engineering, and design discrepancies while overseeing electronic tracking systems to drive real-time visibility into task progress and crew productivity. Support QA/QC by validating test results, ensuring adherence to quality plans, and coordinating with subcontractors to maintain schedule alignment. Cultivate customer relationships, manage change events, and prepare closeout documentation for timely signoff. Work on project sites daily with up to 15% travel, leveraging industry-specific estimating knowledge and construction technology platforms to deliver structured cabling and data center projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Construction Management, Engineering or other related discipline
  • Relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in the construction industry in a similar role
  • Experience with large, structured cabling projects
  • Experience with data center construction projects
  • OSHA-30 Hour certification
  • BICSI TECH certification
  • Proficiency in leveraging information and data in making informed decisions
  • Extensive knowledge of Safety protocols, processes and procedures
  • Deep understanding of industry specific estimating and engineering best practices
  • Ability to identify change events
  • Knowledge of various construction technology platforms, quality, and safety standards
  • Ability to understand and develop project schedules
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
  • Ability to work under time constraints and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Disciplined, detail oriented, organized, and self-driven
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to mentor junior field staff, lead site walks, and represent the telecom discipline in cross functional meetings
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence without direct authority
  • Proficiency in using a computer and business / industry applications - Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.), Bluebeam, Procore, Textura and others
  • On project site daily
  • Up to 15% travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with large, structured cabling projects and/or data center construction projects highly preferred
  • Preferred professional certifications: OSHA-30 Hour certification (if not certified at time of hire, certifications must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment)
  • Preferred professional certifications: BICSI TECH
