Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive on-site visits to assigned transmitter sites quarterly and provide immediate response for unplanned outages, emergency repairs, and critical events requiring field presence. Lead operation, testing, and maintenance of advanced broadcast equipment including audio processors, transmission systems, and LEO satellite solutions while optimizing signal quality based on ministry guidelines. Serve as primary expert for diagnosing complex technical faults down to the component level, acting as mentor and escalation point for junior engineers. Maintain strict adherence to FCC rules, safety standards, and lock-out-tag-out procedures as Chief Operator for assigned stations. Accurately complete administrative documentation including timecards, expense reports, and work orders while utilizing asset management and ticketing systems to track inventory and activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical studies in electronics, broadcast communications, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of directly related experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 6+ years of demonstrated expert-level experience in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining complex broadcast electronic equipment
- Comparable relevant experience to the 6+ years requirement
- Thorough understanding of broadcast air-chain components, including complex system interactions and IP-based signal distribution
- Intermediate networking skills (TCP/IP, routing, switching) and ability to diagnose common network issues
- Advanced understanding of modern microwave and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technologies and their integration
- Deep understanding of radio frequency (RF) emissions, interference mitigation, and regulatory compliance
- Expertise in soldering and desoldering electronic components, including precision work
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations
- Ability to perform complex calculations for common broadcast-related formulae
- Advanced proficiency with standard broadcast test equipment (VOMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other common software
- Proven ability to systematically and logically address multiple, highly complex technical problems, often requiring innovative solutions
- Ability to apply sophisticated common-sense understanding to carry out complex instructions and think strategically from abstract problems to practical solutions
