Job Summary
Field Diesel Mechanic responsible for safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems. Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; maintain a clean and professional service vehicle; assist in training lower level technicians; document work orders; assist with pickup/delivery of equipment and parts; support the Service Department with teamwork and customer service. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, 1-2 years of repair/maintenance experience (or trade school graduate), strong mechanical aptitude, ownership of necessary tools, and ability to lift up to 45 lbs. The role is Safety Sensitive and part of United Rentals’ extensive equipment service team with opportunities for advancement.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- 1-2 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
- Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
- Must own tools applicable to position
- Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
