Job Summary
Field Diesel Mechanic responsible for maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer-owned equipment, traveling to customer sites and maintaining a clean, professional service vehicle. Demonstrates independent judgment, trains lower-level technicians as needed, maintains accurate work orders and documentation, and may upsell and demonstrate a broad range of equipment to customers. Requires strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of construction equipment, schematics/diagrams, tools ownership, and excellent customer service and communication skills. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and the potential for career advancement within United Rentals' Service Department.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
- Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background
- Knowledge of engines and schematics/diagrams
- Own tools applicable to position
- Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs
- Safety-sensitive role under company policies
