Field Design Inspector – Electric Distribution

Job Summary
Conduct field inspections of overhead and underground electric distribution systems across Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, documenting poles, transformers, conductors, and associated equipment. Collect detailed data, take photographs, and verify utility assets to support engineering design and construction packages. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and utility personnel to identify constructability concerns and maintain accurate electronic records within client and ExecuPOWER systems. Follow all safety policies while working around energized facilities and participate in emergency restoration efforts when required. Travel daily throughout the assigned territory, including Allentown, Bethlehem, Lancaster, Harrisburg, and the Pocono Region.
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree in Engineering Technology, Utility Technology, Construction Management, or a related field or equivalent utility field experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in one or more of the following: Electric Distribution Design, Utility Fielding, Utility Construction, Distribution Line Work, Staking or Field Inspection
- Strong understanding of overhead and underground electric distribution systems
- Ability to identify utility equipment and interpret engineering standards
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic computer, tablet, and smartphone proficiency
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel daily throughout: Allentown, PA, Bethlehem, PA, Lancaster, PA, Harrisburg, PA, Pocono Region
- Ability to walk long distances across varied terrain, including wooded and undeveloped areas
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to work in areas with limited or no cellular service
- Ability to drive extended distances throughout the workweek

- Experience with any of the following: Utility Distribution Engineering, Pole Inspections, Joint Use Fielding, GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Utility Asset Management Systems, GPS Data Collection, Electric Utility Standards, NESC, Field Survey Equipment
