Job Summary
Field Construction Manager leads and executes the on-time, on-budget construction of Clearwave Fiber’s outside plant fiber network in the Chicago area. Oversees installation of OSP facilities (aerial, underground, buried), coordinates daily field activities with project managers, contractors, splicing teams, and locate vendors, and ensures safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Responsible for contractor performance, quality control inspections, adherence to RUS/NEC codes, and resolving field issues. Manages and develops Construction Engineers, Leaders, Assistants, and contractors; conducts performance evaluations and onboarding/training. Tracks field progress, safety incidents, and contractor performance, provides weekly status reports, and identifies process improvements for field methods and designs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications OSP construction, installation, repair, and maintenance
- Strong working knowledge of fiber construction methods and outside plant infrastructure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to navigate HES systems for tracking service orders, trouble tickets, and facility records
- Working knowledge of RUS and NEC codes applicable to OSP construction
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned markets
