Job Summary
Field Buyer performs tasks involved in the formation and administration of purchase orders, communicates with suppliers and Bechtel personnel to define requirements and ensure performance to terms, prepares bidder pre-qualification, bidder lists, bid solicitation and analysis, and makes commitments; administers purchase orders and conducts expediting to ensure timely delivery; collaborates with Field Engineering to support material requisitions for procurement of materials and equipment and to align requisitions with processing needs. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of industry experience, with strong procurement knowledge, supplier negotiation, and cross-functional communication. This position is based in Cheyenne and is a full-time office/project role.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 0-2 years of industry experience
- Ability to source items of moderate complexity under light supervision
- Broad knowledge and related sourcing experience
- Participation in negotiations under direction of others
- Ability to form and administer purchase orders
- Proficiency in procurement processes: supplier communication, bidder prequalification, bidder lists, bid requests, bid analysis, and award of commitments
- Knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code or applicable commercial legislation
- Ability to monitor supplier performance and resolve disputes
- Understanding of equipment and material fabrication steps
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication (oral and written)
- Ability to interpret schedules and ensure timely activities
