Job Summary
Field Biologist (Field Based) at ERM conducting plant and wildlife surveys in Arizona and New Mexico. Flexible schedules with remote and site-variant work environments; requires independent or small-team field work, adherence to strict survey protocols, electronic data collection, GPS data collection with sub-meter accuracy, and daily reporting. Role is full-time for 2 months with potential extension; travel and overnight stays may be required. Responsibilities include surveys across Arizona and New Mexico, handling other duties as assigned, and compliance with ERM safety programs; bachelor’s degree preferred in environmental science or related field; strong data quality and communication skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 seasons of Field Biologist survey experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field preferred
- Burrowing owl, Desert Tortoise, and native plant experience preferred
- Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain
- Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies and map interpretation skills (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial photography)
- Strong attention to detail in documentation of work
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel with overnight stays possible
- Demonstrated independent and effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Fluency in English and Spanish a plus
