Job Summary

Conduct field inspections of residential properties in the Orlando MSA to measure improvements, read blueprints, and verify data for ad valorem appraisal. Utilize the Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system and GIS tools to classify improvements and record construction details. Respond to inquiries from property owners regarding valuation methods and procedures. Assist in training other appraisers and perform periodic statutory inspections. Appear before the Value Adjustment Board to defend assessments and conduct damage assessments during disasters, potentially requiring after-hours or weekend duties as an Emergency Responder. Maintain vehicle safety checks and assist the Emergency Operations Center during emergencies. This role supports the residential valuations division in Orange County, with a preference for bilingual candidates and familiarity with Central Florida weather conditions.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in real estate appraisal and/or residential construction
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Four(4) years of experience as an appraiser in a government assessment office, or four years of experience as a private real estate appraiser, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to perform the job-specific competencies
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to create and edit PDF documents, prepare fillable forms, and share and review forms
  • Ability to rapidly acquire and retain knowledge of administrative and procedural regulations
  • Proven attention to detail, reliability, and outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to utilize personal computer and standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA), and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology
  • Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License and a clean driving record
  • Must be able to work in the field and tolerate the extremes of weather conditions common to Central Florida
  • Must be familiar with real estate appraising and residential construction
  • Geographical competency of the real estate market in the Orlando Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA)
  • Will be required to become an Emergency Responder for emergency damage assessment purposes
  • Contingencies such as these may require after-hours or weekend duties

Desired Qualifications

  • The professional designation of the Certified Florida Evaluator (CFE) is preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
