Field Applications Scientist, Upstream

Job Summary
Field Applications Scientist is responsible for providing pre- and post-sales technical support for upstream bioprocess products. This includes leveraging expertise in cell culture process development, filtration, and manufacturing to assist customers and the sales team, delivering technical seminars and product demonstrations, offering on-site/in-lab support, troubleshooting, and coordinating with cross-functional teams (sales, product management, QA, marketing, and R&D). The role involves developing training materials and training new team members and partners, analyzing global field data, drafting technical reports, supporting global product strategy, and contributing to applications data and collateral. Additionally, the candidate will help customers progress through the clinical pipeline from lab-scale to large-scale solutions, and will present technical posters and seminars at trade shows and conferences, potentially leading projects as part of professional development. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific or engineering field and 6+ years of upstream biopharmaceutical experience; ideally with knowledge of perfusion and intensified processes, scale-up/scale-down, tech transfer, and cGMP.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology/biochemistry or chemical engineering
- 6+ years’ upstream process experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Strong understanding of continuous and intensified cell culture in large scale
- Knowledge of perfusion and intensified process for different bioproducts (including mAbs, vaccine or gene therapy) a plus
- Working knowledge of scale-up/scale-down, tech transfer and cGMP requirements
- Knowledge and experience in upstream cell culture
