Job Summary
The Field Application Specialist for Upstream & Cell Culture will provide technical expertise and application support for Cytiva’s upstream bioprocessing portfolio, including cell culture media, bioreactors, and associated solutions. Responsibilities include acting as the technical expert for upstream and cell culture products, delivering pre-sales and post-sales support, product demonstrations, process optimization, troubleshooting, and designing end-to-end upstream workflows. The role partners with sales and internal teams to drive solution adoption, supports process development, scale-up, tech transfer, and collaborates with global teams to tailor solutions to regional customer needs. Additional duties include sales enablement, delivering technical presentations and workshops, contributing to proposals and technical documentation, conducting customer training, internal knowledge sharing, and driving continuous improvement. The position reports to the Upstream and Cell Culture Sales Specialist Leader, is based in Hyderabad, India, and involves remote work to cover the assigned region with 40-50% travel within the territory.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field
- 10-15 years of experience in Upstream bioprocessing/Mammalian cell culture/Bioreactor operations and scale-up
- Experience in biopharma, CDMO, or life sciences industry preferred
- Strong knowledge of Cell culture (mammalian, CHO cells preferred), Upstream bioprocessing workflows, Bioreactors (bench-top to pilot scale)
- Media optimization and process development
- Familiarity with GMP environments, PAT
- Data analysis tools
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
- Ability to build customer relationships and influence decisions
- Travel readiness 40-50%
