Field Application Engineer

Job Summary

Deploy, configure, test, and troubleshoot Civ robotic systems at customer sites across the U.S. and internationally. Train operators on robot operation, maintenance, and software workflows while providing remote and on-site technical support for hardware, software, and operational issues. Prepare, inspect, and calibrate robots before shipment, then perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on the internal fleet including electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical components. Support engineering with product testing, validation, and new feature verification, while documenting issues, procedures, and field learnings to improve internal knowledge and training materials. Collect customer feedback and communicate product improvement opportunities to Engineering and Product teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in robotics, field applications, technical support, hardware support, autonomous systems, drones, mechatronics, or similar hands-on technical roles
  • Experience working directly with customers in technical support, deployment, training, or field service environments
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, electronics, wiring, sensors, batteries, motors, mechanical assemblies, and system troubleshooting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, electrical, mechanical, and basic software issues
  • Experience assembling, repairing, maintaining, or testing complex technical equipment
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, firmware updates, software logs, or basic debugging
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users
  • Comfortable working independently in the field while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing equipment, repairs, and documentation
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for customer deployments
  • Valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with ROS, Linux, Git, or scripting
  • Experience with GNSS/GPS, construction technology, surveying, autonomous vehicles, or drones
