Field Application Engineer – Battery Management Systems (m/f/d)

Job Summary
Lead commissioning and testing activities at customer facilities to ensure Battery Management Systems integrate seamlessly with powertrain or energy storage systems. Perform complex trace analyses using debugging tools like Vector CANoe to identify root causes in communication or functional behavior. Act as the first line of defense for customer claims by reviewing technical issues and translating them into actionable Hardware or Software bug tickets for R&D teams. Provide urgent on-site assistance for critical vehicle-level issues and represent technical interests in customer meetings to build trust through engineering excellence. This role requires high mobility for approximately 50% of the time to support partners on-site with leading automotive OEMs and industrial giants.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in ECU development or automotive battery systems
- Deep understanding of automotive protocols (CAN, Ethernet, UDS Diagnostics)
- High proficiency with Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer) or similar debugging/trace analysis environments
- Basic circuit design knowledge
- Solid grasp of electric powertrain architectures
- Confident, 'customer-first' attitude
- High degree of self-organization
- Ability to explain complex technical issues to both engineers and project managers
- Fluency in English
- High willingness to travel (approx. 50%)
