Field Application Engineer- Aerospace & Defense

Job Summary
Engage with Aerospace & Defense customers to understand technical requirements and architect solutions for RF, radar, avionics, and automated validation systems. Support pre-sales activities including presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and proof-of-concepts while collaborating with Account Managers to drive technical wins. Design architectures using modular instrumentation and PXI platforms, providing consultation on system integration and test methodologies. Assist with customer onboarding, implementation guidance, and issue resolution while working cross-functionally with R&D and global engineering teams. Track emerging technology trends to influence future solution strategies. Requires 10+ years of experience in application engineering within Aerospace & Defense; willingness to travel based on project needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in application engineering, systems engineering, validation, or technical consulting within Aerospace & Defense or related industries
- Strong technical understanding of automated test and validation systems
- Experience with RF test, radar systems, avionics, embedded systems, communications, or HIL environments
- Ability to understand and architect complex system-level solutions
- Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams, customers, and partners
- Willingness to travel based on project and customer requirements
- Strong problem-solving mindset with technical curiosity
- Ability to engage deeply with customer engineering teams
- Strong ownership and execution orientation
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into customer value
- Collaborative and high-energy team player
Desired Qualifications
- Electronics, Electrical, ECE, Instrumentation, Aerospace, or related disciplines
- Prior experience with National Instruments / Emerson Test & Measurement platforms
- Hands-on experience with PXI, RF instrumentation, DAQ systems, or modular test platforms
- Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, MATLAB, or automated test software frameworks
- Familiarity with Aerospace & Defense validation workflows and integration environments
- Experience working with System Integrators or large defense programs
