Fiduciary & Private Client Tax Manager

Job Summary
Review fiduciary income tax returns, private foundation tax returns, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance while overseeing third-party service providers responsible for approximately 2,000 trust filings. Conduct tax research on trusts, estates, and private foundations to resolve complex matters and respond to federal, state, and local tax notices. Collaborate with internal teams, trustees, and external advisors to coordinate resolution and ensure timely tax compliance across diverse client portfolios. Maintain tax documentation and policies, support process improvements, and stay current on legislative developments affecting fiduciary and private client tax matters.
Required Qualifications
- CPA
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant tax experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to work onsite in Baltimore or DC office location
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree or specialization in taxation
- Management experience
- Strong technical knowledge of fiduciary income tax, wealth transfer (estate, gift, and GST) taxation, private foundation taxation, and individual tax
- Experience reviewing fiduciary and/or private client tax returns and related filings
- Experience conducting tax research and analyzing complex tax issues
- Ability to review trust documents and identify tax and planning implications
- Knowledge of investment taxation and portfolio-related tax considerations
- Experience working with third-party tax providers and cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with tax software
- Experience with Atlas5 or OneSource
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
