Job Summary
Lead all field operations for fiber optic installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance, including underground and aerial installations, conduit work, cable pulling, splicing, and termination. Supervise craft personnel, subcontractors, and foremen while conducting daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and site inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop work plans, monitor production rates, and coordinate with utility owners, inspectors, and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Interpret construction drawings, manage OTDR testing, and mitigate risks through prompt corrective actions. Based in Boston, MA or Virginia Beach, VA, this Mid Level role requires 7+ years of telecommunications experience and the ability to travel and work extended hours as project needs require.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of telecommunications or fiber optic construction experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience leading field construction crews
- Strong understanding of fiber optic installation methods
- Strong understanding of fiber splicing and testing procedures
- Strong understanding of termination of fiberoptic cables
- Strong understanding of underground and aerial construction practices
- Strong understanding of telecommunications construction standards
- Experience interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with OTDR testing and fiber certification processes
- Ability to travel and work extended hours as project needs require
- Regular, reliable attendance
- Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
- Perform work safely and effectively
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
