Fiberglass & Gel Coat Technician

Job Summary
Identify defects such as cracks, blisters, stress fractures, and cosmetic flaws. Grind out defective areas, shape edges to match contours, and mix gelcoat with catalyst to spray or brush repaired surfaces. Prepare and apply finishes to teak and other wood surfaces, then buff and polish all repaired areas. Estimate repair times, plan for materials, and coordinate jobs with management while maintaining accurate records of repairs and time spent. Collaborate with team members and provide guidance as needed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to company policies and OSHA standards. Stay updated on industry techniques and materials.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a fiberglass specialist
- 2+ years of experience in Gel Coat repair
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Customer satisfaction, both internal and external
- Effective communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Maritime experience preferred
- Additional training or certifications in marine repair or fiberglass work is preferred
