Job Summary
Install, route, and secure fiber optic cable in aerial, underground, and building environments while performing fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber. Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to identify signal loss, breaks, or continuity issues, then document results and update as-builts. Read splice diagrams, schematics, and fiber matrices to prepare termination hardware and ensure splice loss remains within acceptable tolerance levels. Adhere to OSHA, company safety, and client-specific standards while maintaining proper handling of fiber materials and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- 1–5+ years of fiber optic installation and/or splicing experience
- Experience in OSP and/or ISP environments
- Proficiency with fusion splicing equipment and OTDR testing
- Ability to read construction prints and fiber schematics
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoor environments
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights or travel
- Successful completion of background screening (if applicable)
- Drug screening (if applicable)
- Verification of work authorization in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- FOA or CFOT certification
- Experience working on carrier or large infrastructure projects
- Bucket truck or lift certification
- Knowledge of industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI)
