Job Summary

Locate and repair fiber impairments in the field while examining existing fiber plants and connecting new builds for residential and enterprise customers. Maintain and improve Charter's fiber network by working primarily independently with access to team support when needed. Utilize hand tools, stand for 50-70% of the time, and work in inclement weather to ensure fiber networks operate optimally. This role involves climbing poles infrequently and requires a valid driver's license. Hours are determined by business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship
  • High school diploma
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, and BCT/E)
  • Completion of the following courses: NCTI - Fiber Installation and Activation and Fiber Testing and Maintenance and/or SCTE Maintenance Technology Level 2, Networking Testing and Maintenance Level 2, Optical Fiber Construction
  • Maintenance tech or equivalent work experience of at least 1 year
  • Knowledge of traditional fiber architectures, fiber optic systems, testing and splicing equipment, and Coarse and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM/DWDM)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Highly organized
  • Able to work independently
  • Strong communications skills
  • Able to stand for 50-70% of the time
  • Able to use hand tools
  • Able to climb poles using gaffs and climbing belts
  • Able to work in inclement weather

Desired Qualifications

  • Associates degree in electronics or a related field
  • Basic computer knowledge for occasional work in the office
