Job Summary
Splice, test, troubleshoot, repair, and activate underground and aerial fiber optic cable systems while diagnosing cable plant issues and performing end-of-line network testing. Read splice matrices, prints, and maps to complete fiber assignments, redlines, case swaps, and audits. Build, prepare, seal, and manage fiber cases and enclosures, including color-for-color splicing, jumper cases, tie points, and cable management. Pull fiber cable through existing duct packages or conduit using manual, mechanical, or blowing methods while following all safety procedures and maintaining accurate project documentation. Requires OSHA 10 certification, valid driver's license, and 3+ years of fiber optic splicing experience. Salary ranges from $30.00 to $50.00 hourly.
Required Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Certification required
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- 3+ years of fiber optic splicing and telecommunications construction experience
- Experience with underground and aerial fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation
- Ability to read blueprints, splice matrices, maps, and utility drawings
- Ability to distinguish fiber color codes and perform precise fiber splicing
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and basic math skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a safe work environment
- Ability to climb ladders and poles, work in confined spaces, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to distinguish fiber color codes and wear required personal protective equipment
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience with fiber network activation, audits, and rehabilitation projects
- Experience operating cable pulling equipment and working in telecommunications construction environments
