Fiber Splicing Lead

Job Summary

Lead and supervise a team of fiber splicers in the field, overseeing installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables. Perform and oversee splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting while conducting site surveys to plan activities based on project timelines. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and company policies, and maintain accurate records of splicing activities and test results. Manage splicing materials and equipment inventory, respond to emergency repair requests and outages including after-hours work, and provide technical guidance and training to team members. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to meet project goals. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum of 5 years of fiber optic splicing experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role, proficiency with OTDRs and fusion splicers, and a valid driver's license. Travel is necessary, and the role involves physical demands including lifting heavy equipment and working in various environments.

  • Ability to comply with state and federal laws and regulations regarding vehicle and equipment operation
  • Ability to use seat belts while operating any company vehicle or equipment
  • Ability to abstain from texting while driving
  • Ability to participate in safety committee meetings, training sessions, and surveys
  • Ability to provide input into improving safety
  • Ability to notify supervisor or HR of changes in physical or mental condition or drug use
  • Ability to be a safe worker on and off the job
  • Ability to help coworkers do their job safely
  • Ability to approach work with a safe attitude
  • Ability to work without being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs
  • Ability to notify HR of serious driving, drug/alcohol, or criminal convictions within five days
