Job Summary
Execute fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting using fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters while adhering to safety protocols and client worksite policies. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and cutsheets to assist with structured cable installation activities including pathway construction, rough-in, routing, Telecommunication Room buildout, cable terminations, labeling, and bonding. Conduct thorough testing to identify and resolve issues such as breaks, bends, or poor splices. Participate in on-call rotation for emergency repairs and maintenance outside of normal working hours. Maintain compliance with customer security requirements and travel frequently to various project sites. Must reside in Panama City, Florida.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in OSP fiber optic construction
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree
- Expertise in fusion splicing, OTDR testing, power meter/light source testing, and troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic cable types, color codes, and installation techniques
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and GIS maps, including network schematics
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to travel frequently to various project sites
- Must reside in Panama City, Florida
Desired Qualifications
- Fiber Optics Technician Certification is a plus
- FTTH knowledge, as well as familiarity with microfiber and air-blown fiber installation/splicing, is a plus
- Flagger Certification is desirable for fieldwork as needed
- Climbing Certification is desirable
