Job Summary
Assist experienced splicers with fiber optic cable preparation, fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode cables, and OTDR/power meter testing. Read construction prints, install enclosures and terminals, and support aerial and underground crews while maintaining accurate records. Operate hand tools safely, keep work areas organized, and travel to job sites as needed. Follow all safety policies and customer requirements in an outdoor field environment. May require overtime, weekends, and travel depending on project needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
- Ability to distinguish color-coded fiber cables
- Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to follow directions and safety procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of construction or telecommunications
- Previous telecommunications, utility, or construction experience
