Job Summary
Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables in aerial and underground network environments while performing troubleshooting and restoration activities. Utilize testing equipment like OTDRs and power meters to verify network performance, read splice diagrams, and maintain project documentation. Assist with construction activities including cable placement, pole transfers, and conduit work, adhering to OSHA and industry safety standards. Maintain company vehicles and tools, working collaboratively with supervisors to complete projects safely and on schedule. Work overtime, emergency call-outs, and on-call rotations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, and network records
- Ability to work overtime, emergency call-outs, on-call rotations, and occasional travel as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
- Regular and predictable attendance
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in the broadband industry with fiber optic cabling and splicing experience
- Basic knowledge of fiber optic construction, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting
- Experience using fiber testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, or similar tools
- CDL preferred or ability to obtain if required
