Job Summary
Enterprise Fiber Splicer performs installation, termination, and certification of fiber optic cables (2–96 strands) across data centers, hospitals, schools, and commercial facilities. Requires hands-on single fiber fusion splicing with AFL-Fujikura and Corning Swift splicers, proficiency with Fluke loss testers and Fluke OTDR testers, and knowledge of mechanical and anaerobic splicing methods. Responsibilities include splicing, terminating connectors, installing splice enclosures, testing and troubleshooting optical links, interpreting OTDR traces, and maintaining project documentation in datacenter, healthcare, education, and commercial environments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience performing single fiber fusion splicing on inside plant fiber optic cables in datacenter, healthcare, education, or commercial environments.
- Experience with fiber stripping, cleaving, end face inspection, and connector termination via fusion splicing, with working knowledge of mechanical and anaerobic splicing methods.
- Hands-on experience operating AFL-Fujikura and/or Corning Swift single strand fusion splicers.
- Proficiency in fiber optic testing and certification using Fluke loss testers and Fluke OTDR testers, with the ability to interpret results, identify faults, and document findings against project specifications.
- Working knowledge of fiber splice enclosure installation and organization per manufacturer recommendations.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
