Job Summary
Install, splice, and test single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables, perform OTDR and power meter testing, and interpret schematics to validate end-to-end network performance. Conduct field troubleshooting, complete preventative maintenance, and maintain accurate documentation of all work. Manage inventory of tools and consumables while collaborating with engineering and project teams to support deployments. Adhere to strict safety protocols and quality standards. Requires valid driver's license, nationwide travel capability for 3–4 week stretches, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, or on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field
- Proven field experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing
- Strong understanding of OTDRs, power meters, fusion splicers, and related equipment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexible schedule – must be able to work evenings, weekends, or on-call as needed
- Comfortable with extensive nationwide travel (3–4 weeks at a time)
