Job Summary
Fiber Splicer – Data Center Infrastructure role performing fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation on high-count fiber networks within controlled data center environments. Responsibilities include building and labeling fiber trays, conducting OTDR/OLTS and power meter testing, reading fiber design maps and splice plans, executing fiber cutovers and migrations with minimal downtime, maintaining safety and documentation, and coordinating with internal teams. Required: 2+ years splicing experience, OTDR/OLTS/fiber certification tool proficiency, fiber color-code knowledge, ability to interpret data center docs, experience in data centers/POPs, strong organization and communication skills, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Preferred: ribbon/mass fusion splicing, structured cabling, DWDM/CWDM, OSHA 10/30 certifications. Location: National with travel; Columbus, OH listed as a specific site. Salary: $21-$40 per hour with OT and per diem for travel; average OT weekly 10-20 hours at time-and-a-half; W-2 benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on fiber splicing experience
- Proficiency with OTDR, OLTS, and fiber certification tools
- Strong understanding of fiber color codes, loss budgets, and optical standards
- Ability to read and interpret fiber schematics and data center documentation
- Experience working in data centers, central offices, headends, or POPs
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn new proprietary software and maintain accurate documentation
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work overhead, and navigate cold/hot aisle environments
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks required for data center access
