Job Summary
Splice fiber optic cables in outdoor and indoor environments, perform testing and troubleshooting, and read/create/maintain splicing schematics and diagrams. Must interact professionally with customers and stay proficient with technology daily. Travel required (long-haul), with a typical 40-hour week, mostly night shifts and potential weekend/holiday work; includes pre-employment drug screen and driving record checks; physically capable of climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 75 lbs; strong communication and teamwork skills; willingness to work outdoors in all weather and across multiple West Coast states (AZ, CA, OR, WA, CO). The role is based in Spokane, WA, and involves travel to support field splice operations.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- At least 1 year of previous experience in the fiber optic field is preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company’s minimum safety standard
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft applications
- In-depth understanding of technology-based services, products and networking
- Able to meet physical requirements: climb ladders, work in confined spaces and/or various heights, lift and/or move up to 75 lbs., squat, kneel, bend, crawl and stand for long periods of time
- Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather
- Self-starter with positive attitude and willingness to work
- Detail oriented, meticulous and thorough
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8-hour shift, nights with some days, travel up to 50% or more
- Pre-employment screening including drug test and acceptable driving record
