Job Summary
Install, splice, and maintain fiber optic cables in new construction and maintenance environments, including aerial and underground networks. Prepare fibers by stripping, cleaning, and cleaving before splicing, then conduct testing using OTDRs and power meters to verify signal integrity. Troubleshoot issues such as signal loss, fiber breaks, and connectivity problems while reading schematics and splice diagrams. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with safety standards for outdoor, confined, or elevated work. Requires valid driver's license and ability to lift equipment in various weather conditions. Supports telecommunications infrastructure construction and operation.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with fiber optic splicing or telecommunications work
- Knowledge of fiber color codes, cable types, and network architecture
- Ability to operate tools such as Fusion splicer
- Ability to operate tools such as Fiber cleaver
- Ability to operate tools such as OTDR and test equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift equipment and work in various weather conditions
