Job Summary

Install, splice, and maintain fiber optic cables for underground and aerial telecommunications infrastructure. Prepare fibers by stripping, cleaning, and cleaving before splicing, then conduct testing with OTDRs and power meters to verify network performance. Troubleshoot signal loss, fiber breaks, and connectivity issues while reading schematics and maintaining accurate splice records. Work in outdoor environments, confined spaces, or elevated positions, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Requires valid driver's license, ability to lift equipment, and experience with fusion splicers and cleavers. Supports construction and operation of reliable network systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber optic splicing or telecommunications work
  • Knowledge of fiber color codes, cable types, and network architecture
  • Ability to operate tools such as: Fusion splicer
  • Ability to operate tools such as: Fiber cleaver
  • Ability to operate tools such as: OTDR and test equipment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift equipment and work in various weather conditions
