Fiber Optic Laser Programmer & Nesting Specialist

Job Summary
Program CNC fiber optic laser cutting machines using CAD/CAM software and create optimized nesting layouts to maximize material yield. Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, then generate, verify, and modify machine programs for new and existing parts while selecting cutting parameters based on material type and thickness. Perform program prove-outs, troubleshoot cutting issues, and assist operators with setup and first-piece inspections. Monitor machine performance to recommend improvements that increase productivity and reduce downtime, working closely with engineering, production, and quality departments to support continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain program revisions and documentation in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience programming CNC fiber laser cutting machines in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with nesting software and CAD/CAM programming
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes
- Knowledge of various materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- Proficiency with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desired Qualifications
- technical or vocational training
- Experience with Senfeng, Bystronic, Trumpf, Amada, Mazak, Mitsubishi, or similar fiber laser systems
- Experience with nesting software such as SigmaNEST, Lantek, RADAN, ProNest, or Boost
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
