Job Summary
Accurately splice fiber optic and copper communication lines throughout the service area, interpreting specifications to connect lines and apply proper insulation and sheathing. Perform daily inspections on trucks and equipment, maintain barricading on public right-of-ways, and complete required reports such as service orders and interruption reports. Respond to duty calls seven days a week, day or night, to restore service and report hazardous conditions immediately. Work independently while adhering to strict safety regulations, OSHA rules, and union contract requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 5 years prior experience in the skill of splicing communication lines
- Current Class A CDL or willingness and ability to obtain
- Current DOT Medical Exam card or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness and ability to obtain
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Fine motor skills and visual acuity
- Ability to differentiate between colors
- Must be willing and able to join Montana IBEW under outside communication contract upon hire
- Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies
- Knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT and OSHA Safety Rules
- Knowledge of splicing both fiber optic as well as copper lines
- Background check

- Drug screen
