Job Summary
Accurately splice fiber optic and copper communication lines throughout the service area while interpreting specifications and diagrams to connect lines per job plans. Perform all work and handle tools in accordance with safety rules, including barricading public highways and reporting hazardous conditions immediately. Complete required reports such as Tailboards, Service Orders, and Accident Reports, and maintain daily inspections on assigned trucks and equipment. Respond to duty calls day or night to correct problems and restore service, while maintaining communication with the supervisor regarding assignment specifics and questions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 5 years prior experience in the skill of splicing communication lines
- Current Class A CDL or willingness and ability to obtain
- Current DOT Medical Exam card or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness and ability to obtain
- Fine motor skills and visual acuity
- Ability to differentiate between colors
- Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies
- Knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT and OSHA Safety Rules
- Must be willing and able to join Montana IBEW under outside communication contract upon hire
- Background check
