Job Summary
Accurately splice fiber optic and copper communication lines throughout the service area, interpreting specifications to connect lines and apply cable sheathing to repel moisture. Perform all work in accordance with safety rules, including barricading public highways and flagging procedures, while completing required reports on service interruptions and accidents. Respond to duty calls day or night to restore service, maintain assigned trucks and equipment, and communicate hazards to the supervisor. Requires fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to differentiate colors.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 5 years prior experience in the skill of splicing communication lines
- Current Class A CDL or willingness and ability to obtain
- Current DOT Medical Exam card or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness and ability to obtain
- Fine motor skills and visual acuity
- Ability to differentiate between colors
- Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies
- Knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT and OSHA Safety Rules
- Must be willing and able to join Montana IBEW under outside communication contract upon hire
- Background check

- Drug screen
