Job Summary
Prepare growth media and research materials for labs using Drosophila melanogaster and Caenorhabditis elegans by following protocols to make reagents, packaging supplies for delivery, and making deliveries to participating laboratories. Wash and sterilize glassware while learning complex procedures and addressing quality control issues. This Federal Work Study position requires 10 hours per week on average with a wage of $14.53+ per hour. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Current UVA student
- Eligible for Federal Work Study
- Must be able to lift and pull up to 50lbs
- Must be able to learn and follow complex procedures
- Must be able to spot and address problems in quality control
- Must be comfortable using tools and equipment
- Must be able to make deliveries to participating laboratories
Desired Qualifications
- Back-of-house experience in food service, retail, etc.
