Job Summary
Develop and execute strategies to engage proactively and reactively with federal elected officials, Congressional staff, regulatory agencies, and the Administration on issues affecting Block. Maintain fluency on regulatory and policy issues including financial regulation, consumer protection, trade, tax, digital assets, AI, and privacy while tracking key legislative activity to achieve positive policy outcomes. Drive processes to develop thoughtful, inclusive responses to incoming policy hurdles and deepen relationships with stakeholders across Capitol Hill and the Executive Branch. This role is based in Washington DC and requires the candidate to be a registered lobbyist with significant time spent engaging policymakers. The Federal Affairs Lead will report to the Head of US Public Policy and Government Affairs, working cross-functionally to ensure Block's vision of economic empowerment is well represented at all levels of the federal government.
Required Qualifications
- Be a registered lobbyist for Block
- 8+ years of experience in federal government relations
- Experience in the financial services and technology sectors on Capitol Hill or within an Executive Agency
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
- An ability to effectively explain complicated issues and policy positions to any audience
- Experience navigating complex policy issues
- Ability to be adaptable to changing timelines and able to prioritize effectively
- Avid user of AI
- Experience working collaboratively across internal functions
- Entrepreneurial style and comfort working in fast-paced environments
- Impeccable ethics and high integrity
- This role is based in Washington DC
