Job Summary
Prepare and deliver fresh standard and customized media from dehydrated bacteriological culture media, tissue culture media, and basic formulas. Decontaminate glassware via sterilization and manage medical waste by collecting, segregating, autoclaving, and transporting hazardous and non-MPW materials in accordance with USP, EPA, OSHA, and FDA regulations. Distribute approved receptacles including sharps containers and red bags to laboratories and maintain Government MPW forms. Schedule annual preventative maintenance for media prep equipment and perform housekeeping duties to comply with Good Laboratory Practices. Work full-time hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Reports directly to the Laboratory Lead at InfiniSource Consulting Solutions, a government contractor specializing in IT and professional services for federal clients.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of USP, EPA, OSHA, and FDA regulations
- Ability to decontaminate glassware via sterilization
- Knowledge of medical/pathological waste (MPW) handling procedures
- Ability to collect and remove MPW in leak-proof, secondary containment
- Ability to maintain MPW forms documenting the waste stream
- Ability to segregate used reagent bottles from other MPW
- Ability to segregate hazardous, non-MPW from MPW
- Ability to autoclave MPW per approved Contractor SOPs
- Ability to schedule and coordinate annual preventative maintenance for media prep equipment
- Ability to perform housekeeping duties to comply with Good Laboratory Practices regulations
