Job Summary
Inspect, document, and track breakbulk cargo, vehicles, containers, and heavy equipment entering and leaving the terminal while ensuring compliance with DOT and customs regulations. Supervise Auto Checkers, train them on inspection procedures, and assign automobile-to-flatrack configurations. Conduct detailed inspections of trailers, chassis, and flatbeds for damage, security, and cosmetic condition, recording booking and container numbers. Process gate operations, coordinate traffic patterns, and support vessel loading for LOLO and RORO activities. Perform general labor duties including lashing cargo, spotting containers, and maintaining inventory of lashing gear. Operate forklifts and yard equipment, complete stuffing sheets, and maintain accurate dock receipts and vessel load plans.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain required operational certifications
- Successful completion of annual DOT physical examination
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including vessel and peak operation hours
- Ability to qualify and operate Forklifts
- Ability to qualify and operate Yard Hustlers
- Ability to qualify and operate Other terminal-support equipment used in daily operations
- Ability to safely perform labor-intensive terminal and vessel-support activities
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to run, jump, and withstand significant physical exertion during peak operational periods
- Ability to work extended hours when operational demands require
